Dover, Vermont – Independent Representative Laura Sibilia has been named a 2024 Rodel Fellow.
The Rodel Fellowship was created in 2005 as a program at the Aspen Institute by former Congressman Mickey Edwards and entrepreneur, business leader, and philanthropist Bill Budinger. The Fellowship is a non-partisan leadership development program for elected state and local leaders. Each year, the program selects up to 24 of state and local-level leaders, divided equally between the two political parties, to come together for a series of three multi-day seminars held over a two-year period to help state and local leaders reach their full potential as public servants, deepen their commitment to democracy and the rule of law, and work together to address some of our nation’s most important domestic and international challenges.
Rep. Sibilia represents the Windham-2 District in the Vermont House and the communities of Dover, Jamaica, Stratton, Somerset and Wardsboro and has been a strong advocate for rural communities in Vermont. She has worked continuously to address the rural capacity gap, focusing on areas of economic development; broadband; climate change mitigation; water, sewer and wastewater infrastructure; and housing. Her efforts have been instrumental in helping Vermont’s rural communities and school districts access funding and resources, engage their communities, and bring high-impact planning and projects to fruition.
Rep. Sibilia has served on her local district school board since 2003. She is the Vice Chair of the Environment and Energy Committee, Co-Chair of the House Rural Caucus and a founder and Co-Chair of the Vermont National Guard and Veterans Affairs Legislative Caucus.
