Monday is Labor Day, a day that commemorates the contributions of American workers and those who have strived for better working conditions. This day reminds us of the importance of dialogue and cooperation between labor and industry for both a prosperous economy and to ensure that employees are treated with dignity. I hope you are able to enjoy the stretch of sunny days this long weekend will bring us!

A reminder that I’m holding Office Hours from 11-noon at the Dover Free Library this Saturday September 2nd. The next Office Hours will be on Thursday September 21 from 6-7 pm at the Wardsboro Library.

Legal Assistance for Flood Impacted

The deadline for homeowners, renters and businesses to apply for federal aid tied to July’s historic flooding is September 12. State officials have asked the federal government to extend that deadline by a month.

Reminder: There is a Disaster Recovery Center located in Wardsboro at the Wardsboro Town Hall. Please note it will be closed Sunday and for the Labor Day Monday Holiday.

The Vermont Bar Association is offering free legal help/consultation to those affected by the flood as they work toward recovery. As we know, dealing with legal issues, be they commercial or residential leases, insurance claims, FEMA, SBA, USDA etc., is complicated and fraught with legal nuance that can be overwhelming. www.vtbar.org
